Iberia

Iberia airline is the flag carrier of Spain. It was found on 28 June 1927 on the initiative of businessman Horacio Echeberriet, with the liaison with trustees of the German airline Lufthansa. In the first years of operation, it was known as Compania Aerea de Transportes, and it served mainly postal flights between Madrid and Barcelona. Then it started to operate domestic flights, and in 1946 – international flights. Then Spanish carrier organized its first intercontinental flight between Madrid and Buenos Aires using the Douglas DC-4 plane, being the first civil carrier in history offering regular flights from Europe to South America. Partly privatized in 2001, Iberia is now the monopolist regarding connections from our continent to Latin America. The largest airlines of Spain are the fourth largest in Europe and at the Madrid-Barajas airport, they have its own terminal.

Iberia has been a member of the OneWorld alliance since 1999 and has introduced an electronic ticket as one of the first carriers. In 2001, together with Lufthansa, SAS, and Air France, Spanish airlines Iberia set up Amadeus –the computer ticket sales system, and in 2011 they merged with British Airways, resulting in founding the International Airlines Group holding.

Iberia's connection map is very extensive, the carrier serves more than 100 airports in 39 countries around the world, on all continents except Australia, and at another 90 airports, it lands thank to share code agreements with 20 other carriers.

Reservation classes

Iberia airline offers its passengers the following travel classes: Business, Business Club, Business Plus, Premium Economy and Economy.

Business Club can be chosen on the flights to Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Israel, Nigeria, and Russia. Here the seats are located in the dedicated cabin, and they are wider, have more space between the seats, are equipped with footrests.

Business Plus is the most luxurious one, being available only on long-distance flights to America and South Africa. Seats can be transformed into a flat bed, and its passengers get amenities as the Business class.
