SAS

SAS is Scandinavia's flag carrier based at the SAS Frösundavik Office Building in Frösundavik, Solna Municipality, Sweden. Founded in 1946, SAS was the first airline to cross the North Pole with a scheduled flight. The carrier flies to countries such as Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, Spain, Switzerland, China, Japan, and the U.S.A.

Baggage

Everyone with SAS is allowed to bring one carry-on up to 8kg smaller than 55 cm x 40 cm x 23 cm and one personal item on board. The latter may not exceed 40 cm x 30 cm x 15 cm. For SAS Plus and SAS Business customers, it is two 8kg bags. SAS Go passengers can register one 23kg bag, SAS Plus customers are entitled two items of baggage up to 23kg, whilst in SAS Business it is two 32kg bags. Registered baggage cannot be heavier than 32kg and larger than 158 cm.

Service classes

Scandinavian Airlines offers passengers three travel classes: SAS Go, SAS Plus and SAS Business. In every class passengers can upgrade their tickets to get more baggage allowance, flexibility or comfort. SAS Go is economy class and includes only a ticket and basic cabin baggage allowance. There are no complimentary meals on short- or medium-haul flights. Meals can be purchased from the SAS onboard menu which offers a variety of food options. Wi-Fi is available for a fee. All passengers flying long-haul are provided in-flight entertainment and have access to power outlets and USB ports. SAS Plus offers more amenities, including Fast Track, SAS Lounge access, priority boarding as well as free WiFi. On routes in Europe and Scandinavia, the ticket includes a meal or a snack, whilst passengers flying transcontinental can enjoy a three-course menu. On long-haul routes, seats can be reserved free of charge and cabins provide much more comfort. Business-class is only available for flights to and from the USA and Asia and guarantees a top-notch level of service. Business class cusomers can treat themselves to a selection of finest alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic drinks, fruit and snacks and relax in massage seats that easily convert into flat beds. When flying business class, travelers can choose from a wide range of films and series to stay entertained during the flight. They can avail of Fast Track, the SAS Lounge access, priority boarding as well.

Online check-in

To avoid queues at the airport, it is best to check in online. With SAS travelers can do it between 22 hours and 1 hour before flight departure on the website or through the SAS mobile application. The boarding pass must be printed off to be presented at the airport. All passengers must be at the boarding gate at least 20 minutes before departure. There are several airports that are not included in the online check-in service so and it must be done at the airport. Website online check-in is not available for flights departing from Cagliari, Chambery, Florence, Gazipasa, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Napoli, Olbia, Pisa, Pula, Split, Tenerife + Split and Dubrovnik in the case of mobile online check-in.

Fleet

SAS is constantly upgrading and modernizing its fleet to reduce emissions and make traveling more comfortable for passengers. The SAS fleet consists of the following aircraft: Airbus A319, A320, A320NEO, A321, A330-300, A350-900, Boeing 737-700/800, CRJ-900, ATR 72-600. By 2023, the airline will have at least 80 Airbus A320NEOs in service and in 2019-2021, it will receive 8 Airbus A350s.

Stockholm Arlanda Airport

In 2018, as many as 216,685 aircraft movements were made at Sweden's largest airport, most of them operated by Norwegian Air Shuttle and SAS. The busiest European routes to and from the airport include London–Gatwick, London–Heathrow, London–Luton, Copenhagen, Oslo–Gardermoen, Helsinki, Amsterdam and Frankfurt, while among top intercontinental routes there are: Dubai–International, New York–JFK, New York–Newark, Doha, Bangkok–Suvarnabhumi and Los Angeles. In 2018 the most passengers handled by the airport were from Spain, Germany, the UK, Norway, Denmark, and Finland.

Refreshments

There are two menus: one for European flights, and the other for flights to and from the US and Asia. On long-haul flights, all passengers are served meals. SAS Plus and SAS Business tickets include meals, while SAS Go customers can pre-order their dish. Baby and child meals can be ordered 24 hours in advance at the latest for flights to Asia and the US. Kids' meals can be pre-ordered on flights longer than 90 minutes within Europe with SAS Plus, and in all travel classes to the rest of the world. Breakfast is the same for children and adults. Meals can be pre-ordered through "My Bookings".
