    Georgia
Georgia, straddling the border between Europe and Asia, is a country in the South Caucasus with access to the Black Sea in the west. Its capital is Tbilisi, and it shares borders with Russia, Armenia, Turkey and Azerbaijan. The mountainous terrain includes the Greater Caucasus, home to the country's highest peak, Shkhara (5193 m above sea level), and the famous Kazbek (5033.8 m above sea level). The climate is varied, and the best time to visit is spring or autumn, when temperatures are mild. Georgia has been a candidate for European Union membership since 2023.
