Chisinau
Chișinău, the capital of Moldova, is the country's largest city, home to about 665,500 people. Spanning an area of 123 km², it is divided into five sectors. The etymology of the name refers to old Romanian words meaning "new spring." Founded in 1466, the city has a rich history influenced by Turkish and Russian cultures. Chișinău features a grid street layout, and its architecture blends tradition with modernity. Spring and early autumn are the ideal times to visit, with mild temperatures.
