Tashkent
Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, is situated on the Chirchiq River at the foothills of the Tian Shan. It's the largest city in the country, serving as the industrial and cultural-scientific hub of Central Asia. Tashkent's history dates back to the 2nd century BC, and in the 8th century, the city was Islamized. In 1966, it underwent a major reconstruction after an earthquake. Today, it impresses with modern architecture and numerous museums. The continental climate means spring and autumn are the best times to visit, with milder temperatures.
