Medellín
Medellín, in north-western Colombia in the Andes, is the capital of the department of Antioquia. The city has around 2.4 million inhabitants and is the second largest in the country. Historically known as the base of a drug cartel, it is today an important industrial and cultural centre. Medellín has a growing textile, clothing and chemical industry. Average temperatures are 22-24°C, which makes it an ideal destination all year round. The Feria de las Flores is worth seeing, as is a ride on Colombia's only metro.
