Rome
Rome, the capital of Italy, is situated on the Tiber River and the Mediterranean Sea in the Lazio region. It is the largest city in the country, home to over 2.8 million residents, and the third largest in the EU. Known as the Eternal City, Rome is filled with landmarks such as the Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica. Summers reach 30 °C, while winters hover around 10 °C. The best time to visit is spring and autumn, when the weather is milder. Within the city's boundaries lies Vatican City, the Pope's residence.
