Male
Male is the capital of the Maldives, set on an island in the North Male Atoll. It is the country's largest industrial centre, home to its main seaport and airport. The city has over 211 thousand inhabitants and covers almost the entire surface of the island. Ringed by a concrete breakwater, it is protected from flooding by the Indian Ocean. The tropical climate brings high temperatures all year round, and the best time to visit is the dry season from November to April.
