    Bordeaux, set on the river Garonne in south-western France, is the capital of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and the heart of a famous wine region. The city has around 260 thousand inhabitants, with a million across the wider metropolitan area. Known for its aerospace industry, Bordeaux is an important transport hub with an international airport. The Gothic cathedral of St-Andre and the Musee des Beaux-Arts are well worth seeing.
