Trieste
Trieste is a port city in north-eastern Italy on the Adriatic, the capital of Friuli Venezia Giulia. It is home to over 200 thousand people. It lies close to the Slovenian border, on the Karst plateau. The city has a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters (around 6°C in January) and hot summers (24°C in July). The blustery bora wind is a signature feature of the winter weather. Trieste is well worth visiting in summer, to enjoy the sunshine and explore its rich history.
