Bordeaux–Mérignac international airport is one of the largest airports in the south of France. It is located in the city of Mérignac, about 10 km west of the center of Bordeaux. The airport was established in 1917 as a civil and military facility for conducting aviation exercises. During the Cold War, the airport played a strategic role for NATO forces. Today it has two terminals and two runways. Regular and low-cost airlines operate domestic and international flights from the airport. It handles over 5.2 million passengers annually. There are many hotels near the airport.

The bus line 1+ serves the airport connecting it to the Railway Station. It runs through downtown Bordeaux and Mérignac.

When traveling from the north, exit at either junction 11A or 11B of the A630 ring road which surrounds Bordeaux, whereas from the south, take exit 11 and turn left on the road junction.

The airport parking lot has almost 5,000 parking spaces. Next to the terminal there are EXPRESS STOPS and P0 parking zones. The former offers a 20-minute stop free of charge. Parking zones P1, P2, P4 are slightly further from the terminal and are intended for a long-term stay.
Information desk – information desks can be found in both terminals in the arrival lounge.
Disabled people - the airport is adapted to the needs of people with disabilities and, if necessary, offers the assistance staff.
Airport food – in both terminals there are bars, restaurants, as well as a café.
Shopping – at the airport there are one-stop shops, including duty-free, in abundance.
Money – a bank, ATMs and an exchange are available at the airport.
Car rental – car rental service is provided by Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Europcar, Firefly, Hertz, Goldcar, Interrent, Sixt, and T.T.
Internet - the airport offers two hours of free Internet access.
