British Airways

British Airways, founded in 1974, is the UK's second largest carrier operating flights to over 160 destinations. The most popular countries that BA flies to include: the UK and Northern Ireland, United States, Spain, France, Italy, Canada, India, Thailand, South Africa and China. The airline has its hubs at Heathrow Airport and Gatwick Airport. The airline's slogan says: 'To Fly. To Serve'. The carrier has a subsidiary airline BA CityFlyer which operates domestic and European routes.

Baggage

The British Airways hand baggage allowance is one cabin bag of up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm and one small item no bigger than 40cm x 30cm x 15cm, each up to 23kg. Normally the larger cabin bag will be put into the overhead locker, but it may need to be checked into the aircraft hold if there is not enough space on board, so this bag should not contain any valuables or medication. The BA baggage policy guarantees that the smaller bag can always be carried on board as long as the yellow tag is attached to it. Passengers flying with BA can make use of generous checked baggage allowance which vary depending on the travel class. The easiest way to check it is in Manage My Booking, but in general economy class travelers are entitled to one piece of checked baggage up to 23kg, premium economy – two items of baggage up to 23kg and business customers - two checked bags up to 32kg. First class passengers are allowed to take three bags up to 32kg.

Travel classes

There are four BA travel classes which come with different amenities. Economy class service provides a comfortable flight with or without complimentary refreshments, depending on the flight duration. Premium economy customers travel in a secluded cabin equipped with wider seats and more legroom. Business travellers may benefit from priority boarding, dedicated services and more space on board to work or relax. First class passengers travel in an elegant cabin with attentive service, are treated to luxury meals, and can use numerous additional services.

Online check-in

Online check-in can be done online or using the British Airways application from 24 hours before the departure in "Manage My Booking" by entering booking reference and the passenger’s last name. Up to nine people can check-in online on the same booking. It is good to choose the number of bags or increase the allowance before checking in to save time and money. Passengers can also accept or change the seat that has been allocated to them. After completing the process, the boarding pass can be downloaded, printed or emailed.

Fleet

The fleet of British Airways airline comprises over 270 Boeing and Airbus aircraft. British Airways has entered a partnership with Velocys, a renewable fuels company, to design waste plants that produce renewable jet fuel out of household waste to power its fleet. This will not only contribute to the airline’s commitment to reduce net emissions by 50 per cent by 2050, but also significantly reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.

London Heathrow

London Heathrow is the seventh busiest airport in the world by total passenger traffic. In 2018, it handled 80.1 million passengers and 1.70 million metric tonnes cargo volume. London Heathrow has four passenger terminals, one cargo terminal and two runways. The airport is located 15 miles west of central London and can be easily reached by road or public transport.
