Mytilene
Mytilene, located on the eastern coast of the island of Lesbos, is the largest city on this Greek island. Home to about 27,871 people, it hosts the main campus of the University of the Aegean. In antiquity, it was an important center of Aeolian culture, celebrated for the works of Sappho and Alcaeus. The city experienced various periods of dependency, including under the Persians and Athens. The Mediterranean climate offers mild winters and hot summers, with spring and autumn being the best times to visit.
