Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is a city in northern Finland, where the Ounasjoki River meets the Kemijoki, just below the Arctic Circle. It is the capital of Lapland and an important economic centre for the region. It is home to around 58.5 thousand people, a large share of them students at the University of Lapland. The city is famous for buildings designed by Alvar Aalto, such as the library and the town hall, and for the Arktikum museum. In winter the temperature can fall to -45.3 °C, and in summer it can climb to 30.6 °C. The ideal time to visit is summer, when the days are long and warm.
