Debrecen
Debrecen is the second largest city in Hungary, set on the Great Hungarian Plain close to the Romanian border. It has more than 200 thousand inhabitants and is the capital of Hajdú-Bihar County. The city served as the country's capital twice in its history. It is known for its spa and its centre, which are linked by a tram line. Forests surround the city, including Hungary's first nature reserve, Debreceni Nagyerdő. Average summer temperatures are 25-30°C and winters are mild. The best time to visit is spring and autumn.
